Youth Training

Youth Media Training Program (YMTP)

Sawa World partners with established media institutions in the world’s poorest countries. Together with these partners we train unemployed and vulnerable youth as community reporters.

After intensive training, Sawa World provides a living wage to the Sawa Youth so they can continually share the Sawa Leaders' innovative solutions to extreme poverty with people living in surrounding communities.
Using new media technology, the Sawa Youth Reporters can reach millions through community screenings, radio broadcasts, television interviews, social media, and through other local media.
The Sawa Youth bring the knowledge and successes of the Sawa Leaders to people who, like them, live in extreme poverty, so they can be inspired to replicate these practical, proven and local solutions in their own communities.
This unique strategy encourages the next generation of young leaders in the world’s most impoverished nations to recognize that the power to solve extreme poverty resides within them and their communities, and to act as facilitators for community uplift.
Sawa World is currently working with media partners in five focus countries: Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia and Haiti.
